College Outreach
Coordinator:  Ronnie Smith

The College Outreach program mails "goodie boxes" to our college students several times a year. The mission is to remind our college students that we are thinking of them, praying for them, and missing them while they're away!  The congregation is asked to make donations for these boxes via pulpit announcements and bulletin announcements.  Donations can be put in the “College Care Package” bin in the Hospitality Area.

Community Kitchen
Coordinator: Mary Mackie

The Community Kitchen is held at the Elkton Presbyterian Church every Friday at noon. Our church joins other area churches in providing lunch on a rotating basis.   When it is our turn, a call for help and/or donations of sandwiches, soup or fruit will be sent out via the bulletin and newsletter.

Compassion International
Coordinator: Terri Lokey

Compassion International is an organization that enables families or groups to adopt children in underprivileged areas of the world. Over 35 children have now been adopted by members or groups of our church!  Compassion Sunday is celebrated in April in our church and you can learn then about adopting a child.

Costa Rica Mission
Coordinators:  Terri Lokey

The Mission Team is in the planning stage for a mission trip of young adults, ages 16 and up and other interested men and women to join us on a trip to Costa Rica in the summer of 2017.  The trip is 10 days and is tentatively set for August 2 - 11.

We are focusing on involving youth in this life-changing project, but other adults are welcome also. We will be working on construction projects in northern Costa Rica through Volunteers in Mission (VIM).  We will be doing whatever God calls us to do through the direction of Mary Woods, resident Missionary. We plan to also teach some skills, crafts and Bible School.  The team will also be involved in our own spiritual development through group devotions and worship experiences with the local congregations.

Kentucky Mission Trip
Coordinators:  Ted McDowell and Sandy Wherry

Each year, a team of youth and adults travels to Mozelle, Kentucky for a week of work on a variety of projects.  Together with our friends at Lower Beech Fork United Methodist Church, we grow closer to God and one another while working to make life a little better for some of the less fortunate people of the area.

Rotating Winter Shelter
Coordinator: Terri Lokey

The rotating winter shelter is a collaboration of area churches whose mission is to provide food and shelter to the homeless during cold winter months.  Our church sponsors two weeks of the shelter, and there are a multitude of ways to help – providing dinners, offering hospitality, doing check-ins and spending overnights.  Prior to our scheduled week, a sign-up poster will be on the Missions board in the Hospitality Area.

Thomson Estates Mentoring Program
Coordinator: Nancy Mitchell

Our church is in a partner relationship with Thomson Estates Elementary School (the school where children in the neighborhoods surrounding our church attend).  One of the programs we do is mentoring.  Mentors need to commit to one hour a week to work with children in need.  Training is provided.  To find out more, or to sign up to be a mentor, email Nancy Mitchell at nhmitchell@msn.com.

Christmas in April
Coordinators: Ted McDowell and Wayne Scholz

Each year Elkton UMC, along with several other area churches and organizations, provides a work team for various small home improvement  projects in Cecil County.  On the last Saturday in April, each team works to complete a project for a homeowner who otherwise would not have the means to take care of it.
