Jerusalem Marketplace

This year at Jerusalem Marketplace a good time was had by all! Over 70 children from our church and community came to Vacation Bible School. The program was held each morning from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Everyone who attended this year got to step back into biblical times, specifically to the time when Jesus lived the events we now know as Holy Week. The children learned an important biblical truth associated with each Holy Week event:

Day 1: Jesus Is King (crowds welcomed Jesus to Jerusalem)

Day 2: Jesus Shows God’s Love (Jesus shared Passover with the disciples)

Day 3: Jesus Loves Us (Jesus prayed in the garden and was arrested)

Day 4: Jesus Died For Us (Jesus was crucified)

Day 5: Jesus Lives (Jesus arose from the dead)

The children learned about Jewish culture through music and our “Synagogue School” and practiced Jewish family traditions with their own tribal families, such as the mezuzah and the oil lamp. We ended the week with a special program on Friday night where the children were able to give their parents a glimpse of the week’s events through music and dancing. And after the show, there were ice cream sundaes for everyone!

The week wasn’t only about the children who attended Vacation Bible School this year. The kids had an assignment to gather all the change so they could to donate it to Shoes that Fit, a program that provides shoes for children who are in need. The kids raised $330!

A special thanks to all of the staff and volunteers who lovingly gave of their time and their selves to help children strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ. God bless each of them!
